Cooperative

What is the difference between buying through a cooperative and from a developer?

In a cooperative, the members are the developers. This removes the developer's margin and allows access to the home at cost price.

Is it safe to buy through a cooperative?

Yes. Amounts contributed are guaranteed by law (bond or insurance) and the cooperative is regulated by specific legislation.

Do I need all the money from the start?

No. Payment is progressive: initial deposit, instalments during construction and final payment (usually financeable).

Can I withdraw?

Yes. There is a right to voluntary withdrawal with refund of amounts contributed under current regulations.

Who makes the decisions?

The members, through the General Assembly. Each member has one vote.

What does it mean that it is a cooperative?

Members drive the project at estimated cost price, without a traditional developer margin. Members participate in the cooperative's governance and assume the specific operation of this legal form, within the documentation provided to them.
